Fishy!

Be what you want, now in embroidery.

It was a co-workers birthday recently, and I wanted to make a thing. So I looked around Etsy and found this cute fish with an attitude. It seemed to fit well so I bought and made it.

Quick project with interesting colours. The oranges seemed extremely different from each other while working with it, but they go well together once completed. I later debated whether I should’ve done the background in a different colour, but I think the blue bowl makes it separate enough from the background. I chose to put it in a gold frame because my co-worker is a sparkly lady.

Repeat Fish

Making another black fish, last seen in 2017.

This one is slightly different from all the other plushies of late. The first big difference is that it’s made of regular fleece, not wellness fleece. The second is that it’s not a pattern by CholyKnight. The third is that this one has safety eyes, not felt features.

The fabric choice means that it is not as cuddly but it does hold its shape pretty well. I’ve used this pattern before, you can see the previous fish here. However, I cannot remember where this fish went. I think it might have gone in the stomach of the Toothless gift, but I’m not sure at all. I remember that I lost a fish at the time, which was one of those things that I didn’t think was possible but it happened.

The pattern is by Astrocat on Deviantart here. I think it used to be available without logging in, and I still had the pieces from when I made it before in 2017. All the fins are doubled and turned. I still really like these types of fishes. I think they are so pretty with their wavy tails just bobbing about in an aquarium.

Next up, a plush based on a fish-eating creature.

Round Up

So.. It’s been a while, but I’ve actually been doing some small things. I felt too lazy to post them before, but now I feel I should, so here goes.

May! I participated in me-made-may and wore at least one piece of self-made clothing every day in May. I also took pictures for the first half.

Fish! I saw a fish pattern on the internets here and decided to make one. So now there is a fish living in my house.

Scarf! I made a another circle scarf, now without any blue to be able to wear it with my other clothes. This one is grey-white and black-white polkadots.

Hood! So part of May was the annual LARP event that I frequent. On the Friday it was due to start, my central heater thing gave an error, so I spent the afternoon calling and waiting for a plumber-type guy to fix it. While waiting, I decided to make a hood based on this pin. I fudged the measurements a bit because I had a pieces of fabric left over from the graduation dress/blue coat that I decided should fit, even if they weren’t exactly correct. I made the thing in about.. 2 hours? I wore it for the weekend and it was nice.

Others! I’ve been working quite hard on two large projects, a graduation dress and a big plushie that have taken up a lot of time. However, they aren’t finished yet (just hems on the graduation dress though), so I won’t post them yet…

Fish!

I made a fish today!

I had a friend over for a chat and I was trying to re-familiarise her with knitting again. So we both cast on some stitches, some with more difficulty than others and started stitching. I think my needles were to small, because it’s really tight. I started with some rows of stockinette and then decreased on both sides of the row for a couple of rows. I then started increasing again, now only on the knit rows on both sides. Then I did 1 or 2 were I increased every 3rd row. Some rows no in or decreases and then started decreasing again in about the same order. The last 3 stitches were cast of, and I had myself a fish!

It curls up like crazy, I guess I have to do some of the blocking business with it, but my no experience is preventing me from doing that, also I’m too lazy for such a simple fish. Maybe I’ll do it at some time.

Fishy!!!
